No movie better utilizes Audrey Hepburn's flighty charm and svelte beautythan this romantic adaptation of Truman Capote's novella. Hepburn's city sophisticate Holly Golightly, an enchanting neurotic residing off the items of gents, is a bewitching figure in clothier dresses and costume jewelry. George Peppard is her upstairs neighbor, a struggling writer and "kept" man financed via a steely older girl (Patricia Neal). His rising buddyship with the lonely Holly soon turns to like and threatens the delicate balance of both of their compromised lives. Taking liberties with Capote's bittersweet story, director Blake Edwards and screenwriter George Axelrod turn New York into a metropolis of fans and create a poignant portrait of Holly, a pissed off romantic with a secret previous and a hellodden vulnerability. Composer Henry Mancini earned Oscars for the hellot track "Moon River" and his tastefully romantic score. The simplest sour note in the entire movie is Mickey Rooney's demeaning efficiency as the apartment's Japanese manager, an offensively overdone stereotype even in 1961. The remainder of the movie has weathered the a long time well. Edwards's stylish yet light touch, Axelrod's beneficiant screenplay, and Hepburn's mix of realizing expertise and naiveté combine to create one of the crucial nice display romances and a cultured slice of excessive society bohemian sublime..
