Hancock flips the usual superhero film inside-out: The title persona (Will Smith) can fly, has superstrength, and is invulnerable, but he is also a sloppy, alcoholic jerk who causes hundreds of thousands of bucks in property harm each time he bothers to fight crime. When he keeps the life of a public-relations agent named Ray (Jason Bateman, Arrested Development), Ray make a decisions to beef up Hancock's image--starting by way of having Hancock surrender himself to the authorities and go to jail for his lawless behavior. The idea is that when he's in jail, the crime fee will go up, and peoples will begin to notice Hancock may smartly be of value in spite of everything. This is most effective the first act of Hancock--from there, the movie takes several suave turns that just isn't published. Hancock isn't a perfect film (among other things, director Peter Berg overuses close-ups with a hand held digicam to a degree that may result in motion sickness), but it's an extremely enjoyable one. The script, which dangles collectively far higher than most superhero films, has a propulsive plot, good speak, some compassion for its characters, and even an precise concept or two. The fabulous motion at least gestures against obeying the regulations of physics, which actually makes the unique effects more vivid. The three leads (Smith, Bateman, and Charlize Theron as Ray's wife, Mary) deftly steadiness the movie's combination of comedy, motion, and drama. All in all, a wise subversive twist on a style that every one too often takes itself all too critically.. Read more Hancock (Unrated Special Edition) [Blu-ray]
