Goyer (a veteran comic guide writer) and director Christopher Nolan (Memento), Batman Begins is a welcome return to the grim and gritty model of the Dark Knight, owing an ideal debt to the image novels that preceded it. It would not have the razzle dazzle, or the mass enchantment, of Spider-Man 2 (though the Batmobile is cool), and retelling the starting place means it starts slowly, like most "first" superhero motion images. But it's no doubt the most effective Bat-film for the motive that Burton's original, and among one of the best superhero motion pictures of its time. Bale minimizes a good figure as Batman, extreme and bad but with probably the most lightheartedness Michael Keaton delivered to the personality. Michael Caine offers much of the movie's humor because the family howeverler, Alfred, and since the love interest, Katie Holmes (Dawson's Creek) is pretty plausible in her first grownup position.
